Searches horizontally across the first row of a table for a query value, then retrieves matching info from a row number you choose.
"Think of HLOOKUP like scanning a horizontal calendar. You search across the top row for the month, then look down to find your appointment."
Sintaxis.
Notación Estándar de Excel=BUSCARH(valor_buscado; matriz_buscar_en; indicador_filas; [ordenado])Argumentos.
A continuación se detallan todos los parámetros aceptados por esta función.
The value to be found in the first row of the table.
Ejemplo:D2The range of cells in which you search for the lookup_value and the return value.
Ejemplo:A1:C2The row number in table_array from which the matching value will be returned (row 1 is the top row).
Ejemplo:2TRUE = Approximate match, FALSE = Exact match. Set to FALSE for exact strings; set to TRUE for numerical scale brackets.
Valor por defecto: TRUEEjemplo práctico.
Caso de Uso Paso a PasoHorizontal Tax Rate Lookup
Retrieve tax rates horizontally based on the income threshold in D2 (using range_lookup = TRUE to match the tax bracket scale).
| 10000 | 50000 | 100000 | Search Income | Tax Rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.10 | 0.20 | 0.30 | 75000 | — |
=HLOOKUP(D2, A1:C2, 2, TRUE)Evaluates HLOOKUP over the sample table cells, placing the verified output in cell E2.

=BUSCARH()Comportamiento del resultado.
Returns "Calculated output" based on sample evaluation criteria and active cell references.
Buenas Prácticas
- Ensure the values in the first row of table_array are sorted in ascending order if range_lookup is set to TRUE.
- Just like VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP only searches top-to-bottom. Use XLOOKUP if you need more flexible searches.
Errores Frecuentes
- If row_index_num is less than 1, HLOOKUP returns a #VALUE! error. If it is greater than the number of rows in table_array, it returns a #REF! error.
Compatibilidad de plataforma y versiones.
Matriz verificada con base en los motores de cálculo oficiales de Microsoft Excel y Google Sheets.
Core standard function supported across all modern and legacy Microsoft Excel versions (365, 2021, 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010), as well as Excel for the Web and Mac.
100% compatible with Google Sheets. Uses identical argument order, data types, and standard calculation logic.
Preguntas frecuentes.
Dudas TécnicasCan I use HLOOKUP across different worksheets in Excel?↓
Yes. You can reference cells located on other sheets by including the sheet name followed by an exclamation mark, for example: =HLOOKUP(Sheet2!A2:A10). If the sheet name contains spaces, enclose it in single quotes: ='Q1 Report'!A2:A10.
What is the most common reason for errors in HLOOKUP?↓
If row_index_num is less than 1, HLOOKUP returns a #VALUE! error. If it is greater than the number of rows in table_array, it returns a #REF! error.
Does HLOOKUP work identically in Google Sheets?↓
Yes, HLOOKUP is supported in both Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets with standard evaluation behavior.
